The Middle-East Asia Leadership Forum was held in Dubai from April 15 - 16, 2008 moving ahead the dialogue we started between the two regions in 2007. As the first international event to bring together key business leaders from both the Middle-East and Asia, we have created a whole host of new initiatives and relationships. Through the last few months and across our other events in different parts of Asia, this interaction has grown and many interesting alliances have resulted. The recently concluded event took these discussion to the next level.
We brought together key business executives, policy makers and political leaders to share views and insights on the challenges facing CEOs. Markets are volatile but capital is available and growth avenues still exist. The key task confronting leaders of business is not where to find growth but how to sustain it. And perhaps more importantly, how to make the changes to business models that will ensure future competitiveness.
Held under the Patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Key speakers at the event included Forum chairperson Her Excellency Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, keynote speakers His Highness Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al-Nahayan, Dr. Thaksin Shinawatra, Dr. Surin Pitsuwan and Forum Co-chair Ronnie Chan. CEO from PT Telkom, Dubai International Capital, Alghanim Industries, Dubai School of Government, Trend Micro, Ma'aden, Salam International, Standard Chartered Bank, Lenovo Group also found the event.
The open dialogue format, intense and in-depth discussions, high-end networking and superb production were among the many aspects of the event most enjoyed by the participants. There were numerous issues discussed both from a strategic and a more hands-on operational perspective. The editorial resources moderating each session ensured that topic coverage was comprehensive, balanced and provocative.
BusinessWeek and DNMstrategies would like to express its appreciation to all Moderators and Speakers for contributing so richly to the intellectual capital of the forum. We also extend a special thanks to our forum Associates, Strategic Partners, Supporting Organizations and Media Partners, for their critical role in making this event a success. Finally to all participants at this event – we hope you found ample take-home value from your involvement and the forum was both enjoyable and memorable.
